Instant chakli recipe / chakli recipe:
CHAKLI
is a simple and delicious snack that is often made in India during festival. It
is a spiral shaped crunchy snack made with the perfect blend of lentils and
spices. Deep-fried to a golden brown chakli are lightly spiced with turmeric
and chili packing in an explosion of flavour in every bite.
CHAKLI
recipe is an easy and quick recipe.This recipe can be made instantly for your
teatime snack. This snack recipe is made with rice flour, gram flour and
spices. However, these day people even make this with wheat flour, ragi flour or
suji.
Although,
chakli recipe is very popular in all over India, different part of India has
variations of this recipe. In some part rice flour and mild seasoning of salt
and asafoetida is used. In some state, it is made with wheat flour or rice
flour with suji.
In
my recipe, I have used rice flour and gram flour with some spices. For making
chakli you need a chakli maker which is easily available in market.
INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING INSTANT HAKLI:
1. Rice flour – 2 cups
2. Gram flour or besan – 1 cup
3. Oil or butter – 4 tbsp
4. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
5. Red chili powder – 1 tsp
6. Carom seeds - 1 tsp
7. Asafoetida – 1 pinch
8. White sesame seeds – 1 tbsp
9. Hot water – 1 cup
10. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
11. Oil for frying
12. Salt
How to make instant chakli:
1. In a big bowl take rice flour,
besan or gram flour and oil and mix well.
2. Then mix carom seeds, cumin seeds,
sesame seeds, salt and all spices in it. Make soft dough by using hot water. Cover
the dough and keep for 15 minutes.
3. Meanwhile prepare your chakli
maker. Apply some oil inside the chakli maker.
4. After 15 minutes, knead the dough
nicely. Place one portion of dough inside the chakli maker.
5. Tighten the lid of chakli maker.
6. Press the chakli maker to prepare spiral shaped chakli.
6. Make all chakli on butter paper or
aluminium foil so that it will be easy to take it out for frying.
For frying chakli:
1. Heat oil for deep- frying in a pan
or karai.
2. When the oil is at perfect
temperature for frying, lift the chakli gently and slide into the hot oil.
3. Fry 5 to 6 chakli at a time. Do not
over crowd the karai or pan.
4. Fry them until it becomes golden
brown.
5. Transfer fried chakli into a plate
and drop another batch of chakli to fry.
6. Fry all the chakli in same process.
