OATS APPE OR OATS APPAM RECIPE is a quick and healthy breakfast recipe. This recipe is made with oats, curd and vegetables which makes the recipe healthy.

      Oats are known for their health benefits. It contains dietary fibers, iron and cholesterol reducing agents, which makes the oats a healthy option for all ages. Oats recipes are very common in many Indian houses.

          Oats app or appam is a healthy appam variety made with quick cooking oats and mixed vegetables. It is a fusion of ingredients, which combines all health benefits of oats, fresh vegetables and Indian spices. It is for those who prefer to have benefits of oats, yet do not want to compromise on taste.

   For making appam we need appam pan which is easily available in market. Oats appam or appe are made with very less oil, so it is perfect breakfast recipe for health conscious people.

INGREDIENTS OATS APPE OR APPAM:


1. Oats- 2 cups
2. Suji or rava- ½ cup
3. Curd- 1 cup
4. Salt
5. Onion-1
6. Carrot-1
7. Capsicum-1
8. Green chilies-3to4
9. Ginger-1 inch
10.    Coriander leaves-2 tbsp
11.  Baking soda -1tsp
12.  Mustard seeds-1 tsp
13.  Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
14.  Curry leaves-2 tsp
15.  Aesofatida- 1 pinch
16.  Urad dal – 1 tbsp
17.  Channa dal-1 tbsp

METHODS OF MAKING INSTANT OATS APPE OR APPAM:



1. Dry roast oats in a pan for 2 to 3 minutes. Grind it to a course powder and set aside.

2. Take a big bowl and mix oats powder, suji or rava, curd, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Add water and make a batter out of it. Cover the batter and keep it for 20 to 30 minutes.

3. Chop onion, ginger, green chilies and capsicum. Grate carrot.

4. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, channa dal, urad dal and cumin seeds in it and cook for a while. Add aesofatida in it. Add chopped green chilies, ginger, curry leaves and saute for a while. Then add chopped onion and saute till it become translucent.

5. Now add chopped capsicum and grated carrot in it and saute for 1 minute.

6. Turn off the stove and add the tadka in oats and suji mix.stir well.

7. Heat appam pan and grease it by using a brush. Fill ¾th of each mould with batter and cover it. Let it cook for 1 minute.

8. Drizzle oil and flip the appe. Again cover and let the other side be cooked for one minute or become golden brown.cook both side till become golden and evenly cooked.

9. Transfer the appe to a plate and serve hot with chutney of your choice


HOW TO MAKE OATS APPE OR APPAM WITH STEP BY STEP PHOTO:


STEP-1: Dry roast oats till it changes its colour.

STEP-2: Grind it to a powder and keep.

STEP-3: In a big bowl take oats powder.

STEP-4: Add suji, curd, salt and baking soda in it.

STEP-5: Add required amount of water and make a batter. Keep the batter aside for 20 minutes.

STEP-6: Chop onion, capsicum, ginger, green chilies and coriander leaves. Grate carrot.

STEP-7: heat 2 tsp oil in a pan or kadhai.

STEP-8: Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, channa dal, urad dal and saute it.

STEP-9: Add all chopped vegetables, curry leaves and grated carrot.

STEP-10: Add the fried vegetables in batter.

STEP-11:  mix the batter very well.

STEP-12: Grease the appam pan and heat it.

STEP-13: Fill the batter in each mould of the appam pan.

STEP-14: Cover the pan and let the appam cook for 1 minute.

STEP-15: Drizzle some oil on the appe.

STEP-16: Flip all appe one by one. Cover it again and let it cook till it become golden or cooked evenly both the sides.

STEP-17: When both sides cooked evenly; transfer it to a plate and serve hot with coconut chutney or peanut chutney or chutney of your choice.

Vegetable Oats Upma

             Oats are known for their health benefits. It contains dietary fibers, iron and cholesterol reducing agents, which makes the oats a healthy option for all ages. Oats recipes are very common in many Indian houses and it is mainly eaten for morning breakfast.

            Oats upma is a healthy upma variety made with quick cooking oats and mixed vegetables. It is a fusion of ingredients, which combines all health benefits of oats, fresh vegetables and Indian spices. It is for those who prefer to have benefits of oats, yet do not want to compromise on taste.

           Oats upma is a delicious and easy to prepare recipe which takes very less amount of time. I prepare it the way I make Rava Upma.


INGREDIENTS:

1. Oats-2 cups
2. Onion-1(medium)
3. Chopped vegetables-1 cup (cauliflower,carrot,beans,peas and any other vegetables of your choice)
4. Curry leaves
5. Oil
6. Salt
7. Tomato(optional)
8. Green chillies-3 to 4(slit)
9. Lemon juice-1 tbsp(optional)
10. Channa dal-1 tbsp
11. Urad dal-1 tbsp
12. Mustard seeds- 1 tsp


METHODS FOR PREPARING OATS UPMA


STEP-1: Dry roast the oats for 5 minutes or till it become light brown.

STEP-2: Chop all vegetables and onion. Slit green chillies.

STEP-3: Heat oil in a pan and add channa dal, urad dal and mustard seeds.

STEP-4: Now add chopped onions and saute.

STEP-5: Add curry leaves and green chillies and fry till the onions become transparent.

STEP-6: Add all chopped vegetables and little salt. Cook the vegetables till it cooked properly( do not over cook the vegetables). Keep the vegetables crunchy.

STEP-7: Now add 3 cups water and let it boil. Then add roasted oats init and mix well.

STEP-8: Stir continuously till oats absorb all water and cooked.

STEP-9: Add lemon juice and serve hot.

HOW TO MAKE OATS UPMA WITH STEP BY STEP PHOTO


STEP-1: Roast oats in a pan till it becomes light brown.

STEP-4: Heat 4 tbsp oil in a pan and add chana dal, urad dal and mustard seeds. Fry till the dals become brown and mustard seeds crackle.

STEP-5: Add chopped onions and saute.

STEP-6: Then add green chillies and curry leaves.

STEP-7: Now add all chopped vegetables and little salt.

STEP-8: Cook the vegetable till it becomes tender and cooked.

STEP-9: Add 3 cups water and let it comes to a boil.

ats chilla is a healthy option for not only breakfast but it can also be taken in lunch and dinner. It is a quick, delicious and healthy recipe. It is a variation of traditional besan chilla recipe which is typically prepared with besan or chickpea flour. It is a good option for kids’ lunch box as it contains vegetables.

Oats chilla is an extremely simple recipe. It is made using oats, besan, suji, curd, vegetables and spices. It tastes delicious of its own but curd, sambhar and chutney compliment its taste. These are best served hot since they begin to loose the crispy texture as they cool.
 
Here I have given step by step process of the recipe with pictures for you.

 

INGREDIENTS:


v Oats-2cups

v Besan-1/2 cup

v Suji-1/2 cup

v Curd-1cup
v Onion-1
v Capsicum-1
v Carrot-1
v Tomato-1
v Green chilli-3to4
v Ginger-1/2tsp (grated)
v Cumin-1/2tsp
v Coriander leaves-1/2(chopped)
v Haldi
v Salt


PREPARATION OF OATS CHILLA


Preparation of batter:

Oats chilla


Ø Firstly dry roast the oats till it become light brown. Then grind it to a fine powder.










ØTransfer the powder to a mixing bowl.

Ø Combine the oats flour with suji, besan and curd.












Ø Add salt, turmeric, cumin and grated ginger in it.

Ø Chop vegetables and add it into the mixture.

Ø Make a batter by adding water and mix well.
Ø Cover and keep it for 15mins.
Ø Make a thick flowing consistency of chilla batter.





How to make chilla:


Ø Heat a tawa and grease it well.

Ø Pour a laddleful of batter on hot tawa and spread it gently.

Ø Pour half spoon of oil on the chilla.

Ø Cook for a minute by covering a lid on it.

Ø After a minute remove the lid and flip the chilla up side down
Ø Cook both sides well by pressing gently with the spatula.

Ø Serve hot with curd or your favourite chutney.
