Masala Bhindi

BHINDI MASALA RECIPE / MASALA BHINDI RECIPE

                 Bhindi masala is a popular Indian recipe is made with okra or ladies finger or bhindi and Indian spices. It is a mildly spicy and full of flavor that comes from sauteed bhindi and spices. It is an easy, healthy and delicious recipe.

                BHINDI OR OKRA OR LADY FINGER is a popular vegetable in Indian cuisine. It is not only tastes good but it has some health benefits too. It rich in folic acid and vitamin B6 and it is a low calorie vegetable.There are numerous ways to prepare it.


               The bhindi masala is healthy, tastes delicious and simple to make for regular meals. It can be served for both lunch and dinner.It is a perfect side dish for roti or rice.

INGREDIENTS:


·        Bhindi-1/2 kg
·        Onion-1(chopped)
·        Ginger-garlic paste-1 tbsp
·        Tomato puree-2 tbsp
·        Coriander powder-1 tsp
·        Cumin powder-1/2 tsp
·        Red chili powder-1/2 tsp
·        Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
·        Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
·        Curd-1 tbsp
·        Cream-2 tbsp
·        Coriander leaves-2 tbsp(chopped)

METHODS FOR PREPARING BHINDI MASALA:


STEP-1: Wash bhindi properly and cut it into big pieces.
STEP-2: Chop onion and slit green chilies.
STEP-3: Heat little oil in a kadai or pan and fry bhindi pieces till it turns to light brown. Keep the fried bhindi in a plate and go to the other process.
STEP-4: Heat 3 to 4 tbsp oil in a pan and add cumin seeds init. Let the cumin seeds crackle. Then add chopped onion and saute.
STEP-5: When the onions become soft and turn little brown, add ginger-garlic paste.
STEP-6: Fry the masala till the raw smell of ginger-garlic paste gone. Add tomato puree and mix well.
STEP-7: Then add coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder and turmeric powder and mix well. Stir the masala till it cooked properly.
STEP-8: Add green chillies and curd. Mix well.
STEP-9: Then add cream and fry the masala till it leaves oil in the surface. Now add ½ cup water and let it boil.
STEP-10: in this stage add fried bhindi and let it simmers for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes remove the lid and add garam masala and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
STEP-11: Transfer the masala bhindi to a serving bowl and garnish with cream and chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.

STEP-1: Wash bhindi and dry it well.

STEP-2: Cut the washed bhindi into pieces.

STEP-3: heat oil in a kadai or pan.

STEP-4: Add bhindi pieces in oil and fry.

STEP-5: Fry the bhindi till it becomes light brown and keep aside.

STEP-6: Again heat 3 to 4 tbsp oil in the same kadai or pan.

STEP-7: Add cumin seeds in to the oil and let it crackle.

STEP-8: Then add chopped onions and fry it till it become golden brown.

STEP-9: Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a while.

STEP-10: Add tomato puree and mix well.

STEP-11: Add coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder and turmeric powder.

STEP-12: Add 2 tbsp water and fry the masala for 1 minute.

STEP-13: After one minute add curd and mix well by stirring continuously.

STEP-14: Add slit green chilies in the masala.

STEP-15: Then add cream and mix well.

STEP-16: Fry the masala till it is properly done.

STEP-16: Now add fried bhindi in to the masala and add ½ cup water init.

STEP-17: Cover the kadai or pan with lid and let it simmer for 2 minutes.

STEP-18: After 2 minutes remove the lid and add garam masala.

STEP-19: Now add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

masala bhindi

STEP-20: Transfer the dish in to a serving bowl and garnish with cream and little chopped coriander leaves.
