MIXED DAL TADKA RECIPE / DAL TADKA RECIPE
Lentils or dals are considered to be one of staple food of Indian cuisine. It is considered to be a great source of protein and fiber. For many vegetarians, dals are a great source protein. North Indian cuisine has many variations to the simple and tasty dal recipe.
Dals comes in different varieties
and colours. But a mixture of all these dals gives great flavor to the dal
recipe. So I always prefer to mix all varieties of dals altogether. Mixed dal
recipe is a unique recipe cooked with different lentils together pressure
cooked and tempered with onion, tomato and other spices.
INGREDIENTS:

METHODS FOR PREPARING MIXED DAL TADKA:
STEP-1:
Take 1 cup of mixed dal.
Wash properly and soak it for 2 hours.
STEP-2: In a pressure cooker take water, soaked dal, turmeric powder and salt. Close the lid and pressure cook on high flame until the first whistle and then reduce the heat to the medium till another 2 whistles.
STEP-3: After 3 whistles turn off the flame and let the Cooker be cool.
STEP-4: Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida.
STEP-5: Add chopped onion and saute till the onion becomes little brown in colour.
STEP-6: Then add ginger garlic paste and saute 1/2 min.
STEP-7: Now add chopped tomatoes and chopped green chillies and cook it till the tomatoes become soft and mix with masala.
STEP-8: Add cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and garam masala in it and saute till the masala cook properly.
STEP-9: Pour boiled mixed dal and mix it well. Add amount of water require because the consistency is very important for any dal recipe. I have maintained a medium thickness of consistency here.
STEP-10: simmer the dal for 2 minutes and transfer it to a serving bowl.
STEP-11: Now take a tadka pan and heat 1 tbsp ghee. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let it splutter.
STEP-12: Then add red chillies and curry leaves in it and saute for a while.
STEP-13: Now add red chilli powder and immediately pour it on the dal.
STEP-14: Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with any Indian breads or rice.
This
recipe goes very well with roti, paratha, puri, naan, kultha and rice like
jeera rice and fried rice.
